Family

“Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.” (James 1:17)

We are a crazy, wild bunch who is often very loud and silly!

I love my family! They are God’s greatest gifts to me and they keep me humble and on my knees!

I adore being a mom. It’s all I’ve ever wanted to do and be.

Everyday I ask for the wisdom to teach them, love them and raise them right. And, each day I beg for God’s grace to cover up the many times I have failed to do this.

I am so blessed to be married to my man, Brian, of 17 years.

He is a man who I am so thankful to go though life with.  He is fun, caring, sensitive and strong. He loves me fiercely! He is an amazing who makes us laugh everyday and such an awesome dad too!

How did I ever get so lucky!?

My treasures:

Leader. Visionary. Compassionate. Fun-loving. kind. Passionate. responsible. loving. Smart. Responsible
A daddy’s girl through and through.
She is the best “first-born” you could ever ask for.

My First son. My guy.
joyful. Sensitive. Loving. Caring. kind. Smart. Sweet. Great with machines! Football-crazed. Serious. Kind.
He is always ready to love and hug. He has such a big heart.

My middle baby. The center of our flower.
Sensitive. affectionate. Giggly. Kind. Smart. loving. trusting. Sunny. Animal lover. Imaginative
She is a mommy’s girl and I love that about her!
Oh Ashy, He keeps this family fun!
My youngest man.
melts my heart.
FUN loving. Chef. Sports-crazed. Kind. Smart. sweet. Playful. Passionate. Imaginative. Silly
Our Brown-eyed girl.
The new big sissy!
Goofy. Smart. Kind. Playful. kind. sensitive. affectionate.
She would choose to stay embraced in a “hug” the whole day if she could.

Our Gianna, survivor, warrior…brave. Tiger, fighter, LOVER…..
the baby!

And…..Hudson, makes 7!!!

He isnt in our arms yet, but he is in our hearts and we can’t wait to hug and love on him!

They are my gifts from above!

Children are a gift from the Lord;
they are a reward from him.
Children born to a young man
are like arrows in a warrior’s hands.
How joyful is the man whose quiver is full of them! (psalm 127: 3-5)

  1. Hi Johanna,

This is Laura Lofy. I visited your blog. Your photos are gorgeous! I too hope to help bring more orphans home — who knows — some day we can maybe combine my psychology and your photography skills and get the word out about many more children and “bring them to life” for families. I have had the idea (but not the skill) for awhile that better photos that really capture the children's personalities would really help families know who the children are and then be ready to adopt them. Maybe someday soon our hopes will become a reality. Wouldn't that be great. Let's get Ming home first — then there are others waiting!!!

  2. I love your blog! Your family is beautiful. We have friends who adopted a little girl with heterotaxy from China, and we walked the journey with them. Such a blessing and very difficult as well.
Thanks for sharing your life, adoption journey, and surgery outcome here. I have enjoyed reading and looking at your beautiful pictures. ❤
